The idea of the bird figures originated from the question which came first?

The chicken or the egg.

The very first one was a Chicken (“a Chick”) sitting in a black egg and it was painted back in 2012 in an attic that was so small that the piece had to be taken off the stretcher bars and re-stretched later so I could take it out.

From that the concept took on more birds working mostly in bright colors.

The final evolution of the idea to me was to integrate them into their environments.

They are fantasies in their own world.
A colorful break from a sometimes gray and menacing world.
